Chris has always had an interest in art, from drawing pictures for his classmates at school, to being a highly commended artist in the David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year 2020 competition.
When Chris left school, it was no surprise that he entered into art college. The time spent at Burton art college was insightful, and gave him a positive introduction into the world of creative and fine art. After this period of artistic development, he found himself drawn to another lifelong interest; animals. Putting his artistic passion to one side, he ventured into the world of animal care.
Chris spent two and half amazing years working in a veterinary practice, developing new skills and embracing new experiences. This period working amongst all different kinds of animals gave him a unique insight into their biology. Before long, Chris was drawn back to his first love of art.
With new knowledge of animal anatomy, he was eager to get started on wildlife portraits and let his artistic imagination grow further. Chris soon started receiving commissions from family and friends to draw their pet portraits, giving him the confidence to take his art more seriously. Chris started entering competitions, and was so excited to be accepted as a finalist in the much-acclaimed, David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year competition. Chris was even more overwhelmed to have his entry, not only sold, but, “highly commended”.
He currently enjoys the positive attention his work receives, being inspired by the natural world around him, and having the privilege of doing what he loves.
